Privacy Policy
Effective: December 1, 2025
1. Who are you?
1.1. This Privacy Policy describes the practices of Hyperlight VR LLC (“Hyperlight”, “we”, “our”, “us”) for handling personal information when you play Mecha (the “Game”).
1.2. If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, contact us at:
Email: privacy@hyperlightvr.com
Mail: Hyperlight VR LLC, 1401 21st St Ste R, Sacramento, CA 95811, United States
2. What will I find in this document?
2.1. This Privacy Policy explains why, to what extent, for what purpose, and for how long we process personal information. It also explains who may access it and what rights you may have.
2.2. We respect your privacy. Where possible, we process information in aggregated, anonymized, or pseudonymized form to reduce identifiability while still allowing us to operate and improve the Game.
3. What kind of personal data do you collect and why?
3.1. To let you play Mecha and to repair, maintain, and improve the Game, we may collect:
-
Identification data: such as your in-game nickname, avatar, player or platform user ID, or similar identifiers used for game features (e.g., profiles, multiplayer, leaderboards).
-
Technical/device data: such as device type/model, OS version, app version/build, language, time zone, and similar technical telemetry.
-
Gameplay and usage data: such as when and how you play, match/session information, progress, performance, game settings, and interactions with game features.
We use this information for these purposes:
-
To provide and operate the Game (including online features like matchmaking, multiplayer, leaderboards, and customer support where applicable).
-
To create analytics and diagnostics that help us understand performance, fix issues, and improve gameplay (e.g., stability, balance, usability).
3.2. Operating the Game. We process the above data as needed to provide core functionality and any online features you use. Where required under applicable law, the legal basis may be performance of a contract (i.e., providing the Game and its features). Where contract is not applicable, we may rely on our legitimate interests in operating the Game, preventing fraud/abuse, and maintaining service quality, to the extent permitted by law.
3.3. Analytics and improvement. We process certain technical, gameplay, and usage data for statistical purposes and ongoing improvement of the Game. Where possible, we use aggregated or pseudonymized forms of data. This processing is generally based on our legitimate interests in improving the Game, unless applicable law requires a different basis (for example, consent for certain analytics in some jurisdictions).
4. How will you process my personal data?
4.1. For the purposes above, we aim not to require data in a form that directly identifies you. We process information (especially statistics) in aggregated form as much as possible, and where aggregation is not possible, we process information in pseudonymized form as much as possible.
5. Do you need my consent for processing?
5.1. Depending on where you live, some processing may occur under legal bases other than consent (such as performance of a contract or legitimate interests).
5.2. In some regions, you may be asked for consent for certain analytics or similar technologies. Where consent is required by law, we will provide appropriate choices and honor your preferences.
6. For how long will you retain my personal data?
6.1. We keep personal information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described above and as required or permitted by applicable law.
6.2. In general, we retain personal information for as long as you use the Game and related online services/features, and until you delete your account (where applicable) and/or remove the Game from your library on the platform you used to obtain it, subject to limited retention needed for security, fraud prevention, backups, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.
7. Do I have to provide personal data?
7.1. If you want to play Mecha, we need certain information described above to provide core functionality. Without it, the Game (or parts of it) may not function properly.
8. To whom do you transfer my personal data?
8.1. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Game, such as analytics, diagnostics, hosting, and support providers. We do not sell your personal information.
8.2. Meta Quest / Meta platform. Because Mecha is distributed through the Meta Quest Store, Meta processes certain personal information under its own privacy notice and platform terms.
8.3. Unity (Analytics and Cloud Diagnostics). We use Unity services to help us understand usage and diagnose issues:
-
Unity Analytics may collect device, app, and gameplay/event telemetry to help us measure performance and improve the Game.
-
Unity Cloud Diagnostics may collect crash reports, error logs, and related technical information (which can include device and app information, and diagnostic logs) to help us detect and fix bugs and stability issues.
Unity processes this information under its privacy policy: https://unity3d.com/legal/privacy-policy
8.4. International transfers. We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers (such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms).
9. What rights do I have?
9.1. All users can contact us to request deletion of their personal information, subject to legal and security obligations. In addition, depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include:
-
Right to access your personal information
-
Right to rectification (correct inaccurate/incomplete information)
-
Right to erasure (delete information in certain circumstances)
-
Right to data portability (receive certain information in a structured, machine-readable format)
-
Right to restriction of processing (in certain circumstances)
-
Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (in certain circumstances)
-
Right to complain to your local data protection authority/regulator
9.2. To request access, correction, or deletion, or to ask questions, email us at privacy@hyperlightvr.com or by mail at the address in Section 1.
9.3. Note: Some requests may be limited where the data is required to provide the Game (e.g., if deletion would prevent online features from working), or where we have legal/security obligations.
10. Contact information
10.1. Unless otherwise stated in a region-specific notice, the data controller responsible for your information is:
